On May 31, 2016, BioScience Laboratories, Inc (BSLI), was granted accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 (2005) by American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), an internationally recognized accrediting body.
Today’s increasing globalization of markets is resulting in both more competition, and new opportunities for testing facilities such as BSLI. The World Trade Organization has recognized that in order for test results obtained in one country to be accepted internationally, a globally accepted system for assessing the quality systems and technical competence of a testing facility is required. This role was fulfilled by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), providing an assessment system based on compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 (2005), an international standard for testing laboratory quality systems.
In addition to providing international acceptance of test results, ISO/IEC 17025 (2005) accreditation signifies that the testing facility has shown competence to carry out specific testing methods and to produce accurate measurements. The accreditation process includes conformity to both a quality management system and technical requirements. The management specifications are very similar to those detailed in the widely-recognized ISO 9001 standard; the additional requirements cover the technical aspects of a testing laboratory.
BSLI is especially pleased with the ISO/IEC 17025 (2005) emphasis on continual improvement in the quality management system which will result in improved service to our customers.
