During testing, subjects will contaminate hands with E. coli incorporated into a medium or heavy organic soil, which then is distributed over all surfaces of the hands and fingers to result in a minimum baseline recovery population of ≥107 colonies. Test material effectiveness is measured by comparing the number of challenge bacteria recovered from contaminated hands after a single application of the test material to the number recovered from contaminated hands not exposed to the test material.
